Venue: Wanasom Wellness and Aestic Resort - View website
When: 28th July – 3rd August 2014 (prior to IMC-10)
Organizer: Dr. Martin Ryberg, Uppsala University, Sweden.
Other experts:

Mr. Sajeewa Maharachchikumbura, Institute of Excellence in Fungal Research, Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand.
Together with morphological characters, phylogenetic analysis plays a key role in the identification of fungal taxa. It is becoming common practice, that in order to publish new fungal taxa, phylogenetic analysis will be one of the main requirements of most SCI journals.
The workshop will include:
- How to get a good sequence from a raw sequence data file
- Use of Clustal X, BioEdit, MAFFT, Treeview, Modeltest, Mrmodeltest, MrBayes, PAUP, MEGA
- Generating phylogenetic trees and selecting the best trees
- Reading phylogenetic trees
- The use of phylogenetic analysis for description of new taxa
The workshop will make use of different phylogenetic analysis methods and this will provide the opportunity to select the best method depending on the fungal group.
In addition, a visit to the White temple (Wat Rong Khun), Golden triangle, and/or Myanmar-Thailand border will be provided.
Full workshop fee – 25,000 Baht (800 USD).Price includes pickup from Chiang Rai airport, accommodation (shared room) and food.
